The Lane County Board of Commissioners Tuesday unanimously approved a resolution denouncing white nationalism.
Community members approached the county’s Equity and Access Advisory board with a draft resolution last summer. The resolution approved by Commissioners was re-drafted based on feedback. Heather Buch is Board Chair. “I think there’s a balance in everything.” Buch says, “There’s a balance in action of our every day work. There’s also a balance of making sure that when we know something’s wrong we say it and we say it loud. And, I would love to be able to do that more often. And I’m pleased that we can do it today with this particular resolution.”
Commissioner Jay Bozievich broke with his usual practice of voting against resolutions to join fellow board members in approving it.
