Lane County Health Urges People To Get A Flu Shot

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Lane County is urging people to get a flu shot.

It’s an annual plea from public health officials. But this year, getting your flu shot takes on added meaning,  Lane County spokesman Jason Davis said during an online press briefing Tuesday.

"The last thing that we want to do is deal with influenza outbreaks and COVID outbreaks," said Davis. "That provides a new level of complexity in terms of disease response. It could potentially mean a disastrous situation for our community.”

As for the coronavirus, Davis said Lane County’s rate continues a slow but steady decline, with the majority of new cases still occurring in people who have traveled out of the area.
