Lane County Shifts Focus From COVID Cases To Re-Opening, Inclusion

from Lane County Public Health video

With no new COVID-19 cases to announce over the last week, Lane County Public Health has shifted its focus to meeting seven  criteria for re-opening communities and making sure information reaches everyone.

One requirement is increased local testing. Public Health spokesman Jason Davis says right now, about 149 tests are performed daily. The county’s benchmark is 500. He says guidelines have broadened to allow those with mild symptoms to be tested for the virus.

In response to a lack of Spanish language information outlets, Davis says the public health briefings on Thursdays will be translated and broadcast live in Spanish.

“They will be from Centro Latino Americano staff and broadcast on their page,” Davis said. “If you or somebody you know is a Spanish speaker and in need of Spanish speaking resources, that’s a great opportunity to tune in and get the latest updates.”

Every Thursday, the Lane County Public Health briefing with COVID-19 updates will be live streamed in Spanish on Centro Latino Americano's Facebook page.

The video streamed briefings are already interpreted in American sign language by “all hands interpreting.”
