Public health officials in Lincoln County delivered a mixed bag of news about the coronavirus to county commissioners this week.
On the one hand, a series of free testing events last week turned up just six positive results among more than 11-hundred people tested. On the other hand, Lincoln County Health Department director Rebecca Austen said the county doesn’t appear to be immune from surge of cases being seen around the state, with the average number of daily cases doubling over the past two weeks.
"I think we were all sort of bracing for this day, but when it finally does arrive, it doesn’t make it any easier to accept,” she said.
Austen encouraged Lincoln County residents to follow state guidelines for social distancing and mask wearing, especially over the Thanksgiving holiday.
