Major Studio Picks Up Tracktown, Filmed In Eugene

Michael Sherman

An independent film co-directed and starring Olympic athlete Alexi Pappas  has been picked up by a major Hollywood studio and will be released to theaters in May. The movie Tracktown was filmed in Eugene.

Alexi Pappas and her fiancé Jeremy Teicher co-wrote and co-directed Tracktown. Pappas stars as a long-distance runner who is preparing for the Olympic Trials in Eugene. Teicher says what started as a small film project will soon get a wider audience.
“I’m especially excited to kind of share the slice of Eugene that we captured in the film with the world." Says Teicher,  "It covers the athletic side of town, which is kind of how Alexi and I first were introduced to Eugene when we moved here 4 years ago but it also, there are scenes from the Saturday Market and different businesses.”
The film had its world premiere last year at the LA film Festival. It also played at Eugene’s McDonald Theater. Orion Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn Films acquired Tracktown for world distribution. Alexi Pappas is an Olympic distance runner and Greek national record holder.
