Brian Bull

The Lane County Sheriff was able to reduce more evacuation levels on the Holiday Farm Fire Saturday.

But nearly two weeks since the fire started, level 3 – go now—evacuations remain in place for residents along the McKenzie Highway, west of Leaburg Dam to Milepost 47.

In a video announcement, Lane County Sheriff Cliff Harrold thanked the community for their patience during what he called an unprecedented event.

“This is a very large fire." Harrold said. "And we recognize that this has going on, to be honest, I’ve lost track of the number of days, but quite a while and we just appreciate the community understanding that we have to control this access, and we’re trying to get you into your homes as quick as we can.”

The Holiday Farm Fire is at 173,025 acres and was 12%c contained as of Saturday.

A tree faller helping to clear roads within the fire area was injured last week. His injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.

On Saturday, the Lane County Sheriff canceled the Level one- be ready- evacuation notice for the Lowell and Jasper areas. The Fall Creek and Winberry areas remain at Level one.

The Level one Evacuation Notice for residents in the Mohawk Valley west of Marcola Road and those in the Sunderman Road area has been canceled.

The Level two-- Be Set-- Evacuation Notice for Camp Creek Road east of Oak Point Road, Upper Camp Creek Road and Wendling is downgraded to Level one.
