The University of Oregon women's track and field squad followed in their male teammates' footsteps from the day before with a victory at Hayward Field Saturday.
It was the second time the women's track and field team has won the national championship and a repeat victory for the men's. The spotlight was on favorite Jenna Prandini, who despite a team disqualification in the 4 x 100 relay, bounced back to win the 100 meter dash.
Prandini: "These fans are amazing, and I couldn't have done it without every single one of the girls on the track. I'm so proud of them and so proud of our team and how far we go."
Prandini wasn't the only Duck in the spotlight Saturday. Freshmen Raevyn Rogers ran away with a victory in the 800, after thanking her mother, she addressed reporters.
Raevyn: "I was so excited because it happened. I prayed about it, I almost threw up twice before my race. (I was) super nervous and the fact that it happened, I am just blessed, and God worked with me this whole year and my coaches and my team were really supportive."
Eugene earned the name "Track Town USA" this weekend. It's the first time both of a school's men's and women's team won the national title since Texas A&M in 2011.
