Reality Kitchen is a wholesale bakery and café in Eugene that offers jobs to people with disabilities is expanding.
Jim Evangelista, executive director, points out all the different bread products on a rack in the bakery.
The non-profit offers jobs to people who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“We give them those kinds of experiences that they can take and transfer to other workplace settings in the community, so that they can have successful and independent lives,” says Evangelista.
Evangelista says besides wanting to keep up with demand, their expansion was kick started by the donation of equipment by the former owners of Humble Bagel.
“We’ve been looking at the opportunity for growth, but this really compels us now,” says Evangelista. “We’re in that place where we’ve got this equipment, we’ve got to put it somewhere other than storage.”
Evangelista adds they hope to remain in the River Road area.
