Lane County Public Health hopes to motivate people to get the COVID-19 vaccine this weekend—by offering the chance to win tickets to Duck games or the Olympic trials.
The county is just 1,800 doses away from reaching the state’s threshold of 65% vaccinated residents and the chance to move into the low risk category. Lane County partnered with the University of Oregon and Tracktown to raffle off season tickets to Duck Football, women’s and men’s basketball, and for the Olympic Track & Field Trials. There are two pairs of each—a total of eight available. Lane County’s Devon Ashbridge said the push is to achieve the 65% vaccination goal.
“That’s what we need in order to petition the state to move down into the low risk category permanently," Ashbridge said. "Which will ease some of the restrictions we’re still seeing on local businesses and gatherings and provide a level of stability as far as risk level.”
Entries into the raffle will begin today, Thursday, June 3, through Monday, June 7, at the following vaccination locations:
- Autzen Stadium (June 3–June 7)
- Florence Events Center (June 4)
- North Eugene High School (June 4)
- Pleasant Hill High School (June 5)
Walk-ins are welcome, especially at the Autzen Stadium location which is set up to accommodate large groups of people. Appointments can also be made at www.lanecounty.org/vaxclinics or www.lanecounty.org/clinicasdevacunas.
On Saturday, the Autzen Stadium location will also host DJ/MC Marti Gee, who volunteered to provide tunes for the mass vaccination clinic, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
On Monday evening 8 participants will be selected at random. Winners will be contacted and they will have 24 hours to confirm that they would like the tickets. After 24 hours a new participant will be randomly selected.
Employees of Lane County Government and the University of Oregon Athletics Department, the Pac-12 Conference, and NCAA, TrackTown and each of their subsidiaries, affiliates and promotion and advertising agencies, and each of their respective directors, officers, employees, representatives, and their immediate family members and persons living in the same household with the foregoing individuals, are ineligible. Additionally, prospective student -athletes (9th-12th grade and junior college) are not eligible for tickets.
The tickets are non-transferable, and must be accepted as awarded, with no substitutions of any kind, whether in cash or otherwise, except at Administrator’s sole and absolute discretion. Participants interested in Olympic Trials tickets must opt for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to attain full vaccination status in time for the event.
