A retired University or Oregon administrator has filed to run for Mayor of Springfield in the May 2020 primary.
Mike Eyster is currently the chair of the Lane Community College Board of Education, which holds KLCC’s license. He’s also on the Springfield Utility Board and a former chair of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Eyster says he wants to focus on economic development, public safety, and housing. He announced his candidacy with a video.
“I care deeply about Springfield and with your support I’d like to tap Springfield’s great, unrealized potential. I have the depth and variety of leadership experience to advance all of Springfield.”
Eyster is challenging incumbent Springfield mayor Christine Lundberg. She has served since 2011.
