Two civic awards were given out during tonight’s State of the City event in Eugene.

Mayor Lucy Vinis first presented the Community Award to the Technology Association of Oregon.  She credited it for bolstering Eugene’s tech sector, including helping bring high-speed internet to the downtown.

Vinis then presented the winner of the 2017 Bold Steps Award, which recognizes a company’s environmental practices. The winner was George Rode Repair Shops.  Rode accepted the award on stage.

“Small little steps make a huge difference… in the livability of Eugene, Oregon, U.S., and the world," he said.

"Thank you, and I want to thank our wonderful mayor, for making– I think the right choice, but a good choice.”

Summit Bank and Good Clean Love were the two other finalists for the award.
