Terwilliger Fire Continues to Burn, Cause Still Under Investigation

The Terwilliger Fire, in the Willamette National forest, is now 6,866 acres and 17% contained.

The blaze is burning on the east and west sides of the Cougar Reservoir. 477 personnel are fighting the fire.

Fire officials are implementing an area closure order due to a combination of high fire danger, exceptionally dry conditions and unpredictable fire behavior. The closure includes a section of Forest Service Road 19 and recreation sites.

The Terwilliger Fire was first reported on August 19th. The cause is still under investigation.

From Hwy 126, the closure begins where Forest Service Road 19 intersects with Forest Service Road 1900-408 and continues south to Rebel Trailhead.
