Oregon Democratic Representative Peter DeFazio is among those blasting President Trump, for tweeting a video that makes a Muslim Congresswoman appear dismissive of the 9-11 attacks.

Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar says she’s received death threats since Trump’s action.  Congressman DeFazio says it proves Trump is racist and xenophobic.

“George Bush was president at the time of 9-11, he went to a mosque in the days just after to say, “This is not an attack by people of Muslim faith on the United States of America," he tells KLCC.

A screenshot of the video President Trump tweeted, which has been criticized as inciting hatred and potential violence against another elected official.

"It’s an attack by terrorists, by a ultra-radicalized sect, mostly out of Saudi Arabia. Our great 'friends'.  I have always been very, very skeptical of the Saudis as our ‘friends’.”

The featured video snippet of Omar has her saying “some people did something” but omits the full quote and context. Her full statement was on how Muslim’s civil liberties have eroded since 9-11.

The White House has defended its right to criticize Omar for what it calls past “anti-Semitic, anti-Israel” statements by her.
