UO Announces Winter Classes Will Be Mostly Online

Jes Burns

The University of Oregon announcedTuesday that winter term courses will continue to be mostly remote and online.

The university will still offer some classes in-person such as science labs.

In a letter to the campus community, UO President Michael Schill and Provost Patrick Phillips said the decision was made based on careful monitoring of Covid-19 cases in Lane County and Oregon. They said, “As has been the case throughout the pandemic, the health and safety of the entire UO community remains our top priority. We will continue to take precautions, evaluate the situation, and adapt as necessary in coordination and compliance with guidance from the Oregon Health Authority and appropriate local health authorities.

The university has reported nearly 200 cases of coronavirus in UO employees and students living on and off campus this month.
