UO Students Excited About Women's Final Four

Aubrey Bulkeley

The Oregon Ducks face Baylor Friday in the Women’s NCAA Final Four. This is the first time the team has made it this far in the tournament. KLCC went on campus to find out what students at the University of Oregon think about this groundbreaking achievement.

Freshman Maya Bailey said, “My name is Maya Bailey and I’m a student at the University of Oregon.”

Reporter: “What do you think about the women making the final four?”

Bailey asked, “In?”

Reporter: “Basketball.”

“Wow. I think that’s amazing,” said Bailey.

Reporter: “And, do you have plans to watch the game at all?”

Bailey says,“Oh yeah. Now I do. For sure.”

“My name is Cameron Casella, I’m a sophomore at UO. I think it’s a fantastic accomplishment and they’re able to represent the school on that level,” said Casella.

“My name is Kiki Ketema. I’m a Political science and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies major,” said Ketema. “And I think it’s super awesome that the women made it to the final four.”

Reporter: “And why do you think that’s so awesome?”

“Because if they’ve never done it before, then that’s groundbreaking, you know. That’s an accomplishment to celebrate. I hope they win. I hope they win it all,” said Ketema.

The game starts at 4pm Friday and a watch party is being hosted on campus at the EMU and Matthew Knight Arena.
