Utility Crews In Eugene Keep Working To Restore Power After Ice Storm

EWEB

As of Tuesday morning about 3,000 Eugene Water and Electric Board customers are without power. Crews are working to restore full power, but some residences might be without electricity for a few more days.

EWEB spokesman Joe Harwood says it's day 6 since an ice storm caused widespread damage that put more than 20 thousand out of power. Exhausted crews repair lines only to have them go out again as more tree branches fall.
Harwood: “We continue to have the widow-maker branches come down and it’s dangerous out there and every time a new one comes down on one of the overhead lines, we have another new outage.”
Harwood asks all customers to turn on porch lights so crews can tell which homes are without power. Harwood expects the majority of outages to be repaired in the next day or so, but those in heavily forested areas or with damage to their home electrical system, may have to wait a few more days for restoration.
