The Department of Agriculture says some shelters and private individuals took in livestock and pets from people who were fleeing the flames. In some cases, the animals’ owners are currently unknown.

The agency has created a website where people can enter information about the animals they are caring for. Owners can check the list to see if they can locate their missing animals.
