Wyden Blasts Lack Of Movement On Coronavirus Relief Package

Oregon’s senior senator is blasting Republicans for lack of movement on a coronavirus relief package.

Democrat Ron Wyden said during an interview with KLCC Friday that he just can’t understand why Senate Republicans and the president aren’t acting quickly on a new COVID-19 stimulus bill.

"It just seems to me for Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump to make excuse after excuse after excuse when we’re seeing the virus spiking, when we’re seeing claims go back up, when we’re seeing state and local governments hemorrhaging money, that the government ought to step back in,” he said.

Wyden says a relief package should include aid for small businesses, local governments, hospitals, and the unemployed. The Senate is not scheduled for any floor votes until after Thanksgiving.

"A lame duck session is no time for lame excuses about why you shouldn't pass a coronavirus relief package," said Wyden.
