A 10-thousand dollar grant from an Oregon tribe will help keep families in the Eugene area from homelessness. KLCC’s Briana Friden reports the funds for ShelterCare come from the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians.

Kaiser Permenante officially joined Eugene's healthcare community in January, and since then, the provider has given $290,000 in grants to local non-profits, including two Latino programs.

University of Oregon

A team of scientist at the University of Oregon has received a $900,000 grant. The team, led by physicist Richard Taylor, hopes to develop a bio-inspired retinal implant.

Eugene Arts And Technology School Receives Grant

Eugene's Arts and Technology Middle School in Churchill has been awarded nearly $700,ooo dollars from a state STEM grant. STEM refers to studies in science, technology, engineering, and math. Principal Jeffery Johnson says the purpose of the grant is to create an environment where students and teachers focus on STEM classes in a project rich atmosphere. He says they will be acquiring new tools to make that happen.
