Our Community Birth Center

There are currently no free-standing birthing facilities operating in Lane County. But that is about to change. A non-profit midwifery birth center recently found a new space to call home.

In January, Community Health Centers of Lane County closed its Prenatal Clinic. Many clients are in the Latinx community. The closure has created a gap in services-- which an emerging Birth Center is looking to fill.

When PeaceHealth closed its Birth Center in Springfield last August, it left a gap in services for women. Now, a group of midwives plan to open a new free-standing center. 

When PeaceHealth Oregon closed its Nurse Midwifery Birth Center in late summer— it left Lane County without such birthing services for the first time since the 1970’s.  On Wednesday, a community organizing group announced plans to open new, free-standing Birth Center in the Eugene-Springfield area.
