Sheriff Says Focus Needs To Be On Victims And Their Families

Brandon Nelson Hubbard

A male shooter went on a rampage at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg this morning.

KLCC's Rachael McDonald is in Roseburg. She just attended a press conference with Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin. She says the feeling in the town is one of concern right now; most people are returning or have returned home and are monitoring the story on social media.

McDonald: "It's a small town, and so chances are that everyone knows someone who was at the college at the time and the Sheriff mentioned that he really wanted people to be thinking about the families of the victims, just to be thoughtful of the fact that this is a huge tragedy for the community."

The public is being advised to avoid the area around Umpqua Community College.
