The FBI has started processing the crime scene at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon. It could be several months before the refuge is reopened. The police presence at the refuge is still significant.
FBI Assistant Special Agent In Charge Larry Karl said following the arrests of the four remaining holdouts Thursday, tactical teams began searching the buildings.
"The actual bomb clear, with our bomb technicians, is starting this morning. They've actually just started that. And that's in effort to for any hazardous materials that may have been on site prior to, or may have been brought by some of the occupiers."
The FBI says after that they'll turn their attention to collecting evidence for the criminal prosecution of those who participated in the 41 day occupation as a protest against federal management of public lands.
