Lane County Gets A New Sheriff

Lane County

The Lane County Board of Commissioners has selected Chief Deputy Cliff Harrold as the next Lane County Sheriff.

Harrold was selected after a competitive application process and public interview before the Board, which then unanimously decided to appoint him. He must stand for election in 2020.

Harrold has been a part of the Sheriff’s office since 1990.  He also spent time as a 9-1-1 dispatcher for the Cottage Grove Police Department, and worked as a deputy sheriff at the Lane County Jail. Most recently, Harrold served as Chief Deputy.

He succeeds Sheriff Byron Trapp, who retires on April 16th, after 31 years of service.
