One Dead After Officer Involved Shooting in Springfield

A person was shot and killed by Springfield Police after officers responded to reports of disorderly conduct in the parking lot of Best Buy on Gateway street at 3:36 on Saturday afternoon. The Register Guard reports the call was for a man who was damaging at least one vehicle in the lot.

In a statement, SPD says after officers made contact with the person, the suspect’s actions “required the use of deadly force.”

The names of those involved have not yet been released. The Interagency Deadly Force Investigation Team is investigating the shooting.
