"Father of Environmental Justice" to Speak at LCC’s Virtual MLK Celebration

Lane Community College

Lane Community College’s virtual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration will include a speech from an activist known as the “father of environmental justice.” Dr. Robert Bullard hopes to inspire the next generation of environmental activists of color.

Dr. Robert Bullard is known for his work exposing racial disparities related to pollution and other damaging environmental factors. Bullard says the quest for justice isn’t a sprint, but a marathon.

“[In] 2045, the United States will be the majority people of color," said Bullard. "But we don’t need to wait 25 years to come into our own when it comes to political power, economic power, and education. Making sure that our businesses and out entrepreneurs get their fair share of resources, etc.”

LCC's MLK event is today from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
