A SWAT Team successfully resolved a standoff in South Eugene on Monday night.
Starting at about 5:12 p.m., Central Lane 911 received multiple calls regarding shots fired in the East Amazon Drive/Snell area neighborhood. The road was closed at the intersection of East Amazon Drive and Dillard Road.
A resident of a nearby home was injured with glass after a bullet was shot into a window. The suspect, Nicholas Hanford Gerber, had access to multiple firearms.
Just before midnight, a SWAT Team removed Gerber from the house. He’s being held at the Lane County Jail on the following charges: Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and two counts of Reckless Endangering.
A CENS message was sent in a 3 block radius to shelter in place, and some homes were evacuated during the standoff.
