Fear of violence prompts lockdown of Linn County Courthouse

The Linn County courthouse is in downtown Albany.

The Linn County Sheriff’s office says the county courthouse in Albany was locked down for several hours Thursday amid fear of a potential violent act directed toward an attorney who was working on a case that day.

Deputies closed the building to the public shortly after 11 a.m. while they investigated the reported threat.

After contacting the parties involved, officers decided there was no imminent danger and re-opened the building.
