UPDATE: Thursday 3:30pm

Today fire investigators, insurance adjusters, clean-up crews and business owners are assessing the damage from Wednesday's fire that destroyed Southtowne Lanes bowling alley on Willamette Street.

Both Down to Earth and Eugene Coin & Jewelry suffered major water and smoke damage, but their buildings and most of the contents were spared. Down to Earth says they have good insurance and are very thankful to the firefighters for saving their building. They will be closed for repairs for an unspecified amount of time. Their downtown location is open. Eugene Coin & Jewelry also had extensive water and smoke damage. On Thursday, a crew was on scene helping clear out the building under the watchful eye of the owner.

Fire crews are on the scene of a fire at the Southtowne Lanes bowling alley on 25th and Willamette St. in South Eugene. The fire call came in around 4 p.m. as a two-alarm blaze. KLCC's Angela Kellner spoke with Tiffany Eckert, reporting from the Capella Market parking lot across the street.
