Thursday's Storms Lead to Lightning Strikes & Fires on Public Lands

Following Thursday's storms, the Willamette National Forest reports about 40 new lightning-caused fires, all 1 acre or less.

The Deschutes National Forest reports numerous new lightning starts, all under 1 acre, except the Glass Buttes Fire near Highway 20, east of Bend – that’s between 5-10 acres.

And, the Douglas Forest Protective Association reports that multiple thunderstorms moved over their area Thursday, resulting in numerous lightning strikes. As of Thursday night, 4 confirmed lightning fires had been located on DFPA-protected lands.
