Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene is moving forward with its remodel, after raising a portion of its five-point-six million dollar campaign goal. It will start construction next week.

With its two-point-one million dollars in donated funds, the nonprofit will begin its first phase of construction on June 13th. That includes improving dog housing and expanding its cat housing at its Greenhill Road location.

Greenhill’s Director of Operations Sasha Elliott says they’re currently working out of two separate locations that are 10 minutes apart.

“We are limited by our two aging facilities and this project will enable us to provide better care for our animals here locally and at the same time it’s going to improve access to Greenhill’s programs and services for people in our community,” she says.

Greenhill anticipates the first phase of construction will be complete by the end of 20-18. The second phase will include expansion and improvements to its medical care facility.

Both the Greenhill and First Avenue locations will be open during the remodel.
