LTD Issues 14 Layoffs, Prepares for Budget Shortfalls

As the pandemic continues to impact the economy, Lane Transit District is also taking revenue hits. LTD is making staff reductions in order to balance their operating budget.

Effective May 22, LTD will lay off 14 members of its administrative staff. Employees will also take scheduled furlough days once a month until further notice.

According to an LTD press release, the pandemic has impacted payroll taxes, fares, and group pass revenues that fund LTD’s operating budget. Now, LTD is working to fill a projected $17 million budget shortfall for this year and the 2021 fiscal year.

Over the next few years, LTD will draw from the $25 million they received through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act to help with expected budget shortfalls.
