Oregon Governor Kate Brown appointed Clyde Saiki as the state's Chief Operating Officer and Director of the Department of Administrative Services.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown Tuesday appointed a replacement for a state official who resigned amid the investigation into former governor John Kitzhaber.

Deputy transportation director Clyde Saiki will take over as the state’s chief administrator. He spent 23 years in the Department of Human Services before starting at ODOT five years ago.

Now, he’ll fill the office vacated this year by Michael Jordan.

After thousands of emails were leaked from Kitzhaber’s personal account, Jordan was the one who demanded a criminal investigation into whoever was responsible.

Kitzhaber resigned in February amid a criminal ethics investigation. Jordan quit shortly after, effective April 1.

An email from Brown’s office says this appointment is the first in a series of announcements she’ll make about staffing changes in the weeks to come.
