Ducks Take First Game Of NCAA Softball Super Regional

The #1 ranked University of Oregon softball team is hosting the NCAA Super Regional tournament this weekend.  In the opening game of the best-of-three series on Saturday, the Ducks defeated Minnesota 10 to 2 before a record crowd.

The Golden Gophers got on the board first with a two-hit, one run first inning, but then Oregon’s lead-off hitter Courtney Ceo homered to tie it up.  Ceo ended up going 3 for 3 in the game, and inched closer to a .500 season batting average.

The next inning Oregon put the ball in play, using their speed, a few well-placed hits, and two Minnesota errors to add another four runs. Head Coach Mike White spoke after the game.

White:  “That’s what we do.  We try to create havoc in the infield.  We try to create pressure whenever we can.  I’m just blessed to have enough people on my team that can do that.”

That was enough to keep Minnesota at bay the rest of the game.
