Eugene drivers may experience delays at the 6th and Garfield intersection the next two weeks. Sunday, construction continues on the West Eugene EmX project.

Two lanes of West 6th Avenue will be closed and left turns from 6th to Garfield will not be allowed.
Edward McGlone is with Lane Transit District. He says there are two detour routes.

McGlone: “If they’re looking to turn from Garfield Avenue on to West 6th Avenue, they can detour the intersection by turning right on West 7th Avenue and then left on Chambers Street, returning to West 6th Avenue.”

Travelers heading west from Garfield onto 6th can turn two blocks earlier on Chambers.

McGlone says roadwork on West 6th and 7th Avenues is almost done; the next phase will take place on West 11th avenue between Beltline and Baily Hill.

All businesses are open during construction.
