The Miles Davis band of 1961 was melodic, subtle and built on the grooves of one of the best rhythm sections in jazz. In April of that year, they played and recorded two classic concerts at the legendary Blackhawk jazz club in San Francisco, which were eventually released in full as a four-CD set. The Carl Woideck Jazz Heritage Project will bring the spirit and music of those nights to the stage of the Jaqua Concert Hall in Eugene on Thursday, November 21st. Here, we hear samples of Miles at the Blackhawk in "Bye Bye Blackbird" and "All of You," as Carl Woideck talks with Eric Alan about the jazz of the age, and about recreating it now.
