As Martin Luther King Jr. Day approaches, author R. Gregory Nokes reflects on the legacy of slavery in Oregon, through his book Breaking Chains: Slavery on Trial in the Oregon Territory. The book has just been named as an Oregon Book Award finalist. Greg Nokes will speak in Newport and Lincoln City on January 18^th and 19^th. He is interviewed here by Eric Alan.
