For the past quarter-century, MEDGE—the Middle Eastern Dance Guild of Eugene—has brought Middle Eastern dance and music to the region through performance and education. Their 25th anniversary gala belly dance performance will include forms from folkloric to fusion, as well as live music by Americanistan, at the Wildish Theater in Springfield on Saturday, March 12th. MEDGE president Souzana Chapa speaks with Eric Alan about belly dance's origins and evolving forms.
