KLCC Reporter Emeritus Frank Nearing Dies At Age 100

Frank Nearing passed away on Friday, June 28th at the age of 100. He was a social worker, educator and KLCC reporter. 

After he retired, Frank took a 2-year degree in broadcast journalism at LCC. He then served as volunteer reporter at KLCC for 23 years. He covered the Lane County Commissioners, Eugene City Council, EWEB, The Fair Board, LCC Board and many other meetings and groups. A memorial mass will be celebrated on August 9th, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Eugene.

Frank Nearing served on both the Eugene 4J School Board and the Lane Education Service District Board.  Nearing was also a KLCC news reporter, covering – among other stories – LCC Board meetings.
