The Art Chics group had an art sale that benefited the Burrito Brigade nonprofit in Eugene on November 6th.

Since the year 2000, the Art Chics group has been making original art from handmade cards to ceramics and fabric. The group hosted the “Art on the Go,” sale at Network Charter School in Eugene, OR.

Customers could choose mystery bags which each held a unique handmade creation. 30% of all profits went to the Burrito Brigade, a nonprofit that has been giving away free vegan burritos to hungry people in Eugene since 2014.

Georgie Cooper is one of the founding members of the Art Chics group: “You'll just see a huge display of colorful bags of all kinds. Just try your luck.”

Cooper says the group currently has eight active members who meet once a month. They started donating a portion of their profits to the community in 2005.

“It really gave you a purpose to think, okay, I can do something I love,” she said. “It can also help somebody else.”
