A world premiere ballet at the Hult Center in Eugene will transport guests to Brazil and Argentina on New Year’s Eve.

Ballet Fantastique has been working on “Arrivals: Rio,” an original Latin American themed production, for three years. Executive Director Hannah Bontrager told KLCC the group is excited to finally perform it on stage, and to host a festive night.

“We’ve created this experience that we’re hoping will feel like a party as soon as you walk into the Hult Center," she said. "So Samba Ja is playing a free pre-show in the lobby. We’re working with the Hult Center so that you’ll actually hear almost like an airport announcement to take your seats. Your theater seat is your airplane seat in first class.”

There are scenes at Carnival and on Ipanema Beach, with live music, bright costumes and a unique video projection backdrop.

An after-party features themed food and drink, more music and a midnight toast. The show benefits the Amazon Rainforest Conservancy.
