Oregon's biggest wildfire is 40 percent contained. The Stouts Creek Fire in Douglas County has burned more than 23 thousand acres.

Joe Touchstone is with the Oregon Department of Forestry. He says the cooler weather over the past week has helped crews make significant progress building containment lines.

"If you could have optimal conditions for fire crews, this would be it. Moderate temperatures, higher humidity keeps fire activity down."

There is a red flag warning for lightning potential in the region. Several small new wildfires were sparked this weekend, including one in Cave Junction that burned two homes and threatened hundreds of others. That fire has been contained. Smoke from multiple blazes is making the air unhealthy in some communities in southern Oregon.
