Oregon Travel And Hospitality Industries Provide Jobs

Tourism in Oregon has created over 115,000 jobs in the state, with 11,000 of those in Lane County. 

A recent report prepared for the Oregon Tourism Commission shows hospitality and travel jobs have increased by 3 percent every year since 2010.

Andy Vobora is Vice President of Stakeholder Relations for Travel Lane County.  He says tourism offers many opportunities for those looking for work.

“I think sometimes our industry gets a bad rap, in terms of, 'Well, those are just a bunch of service jobs',” Vobora tells KLCC. 

"But those entry level jobs are important to the economy, give people those first opportunities, and a full 52 percent  in the latest study I read go on to have career-type jobs.” 

The report does not differentiate between part-time and full-time, or seasonal versus year-round positions.
