Arcimoto, creators of the Fun Utility Vehicle (FUV) announced last week they have entered a purchase agreement to buy a manufacturing site in Eugene. This will increase the company’s manufacturing space from 38,000 to 185,000 square feet.

Taking over an existing site instead of building a new one is in line with Arcimoto’s value to downsize society’s environmental footprint.

Founder and CEO Mark Frohnmayer is happy this step brings the company back to the Whiteaker neighborhood where it first started.

“We laid out some pretty aggressive goals for getting to mass production within a couple of years,” said Frohnmayer. “And having a space to do it in is a necessary prerequisite for that goal.”

According to Frohnmayer the company will need more employees as the company grows.

The agreement is scheduled to close March 31st and is contingent on approval of the property condition, zoning restrictions and environmental assessments.
