As the school year comes to an end, Oregon State University will celebrate with a record size graduating class.

OSU’s class of 2014 is the largest in the school’s history. Nearly 5,900 students will be graduating this Saturday. That’s even more than last year’s record breaking class.  The three departments with the most graduates are Liberal Arts, Engineering, and Business.

The large class of 2014 is very diverse. Steve Clark, vice president of university relations at OSU says they have graduates from 50 different countries and a wide range of ages.

Clark: “It’s really a unique thing, but the average age of our class, the graduating class, is 25. But, we have a person graduating who’s 78 years-old. We also have a student graduating on Saturday who’s 19.”

Clark also attributes the large class size to dual degree transfers, where students can enroll in any Oregon community college and OSU.
