The Eugene 4J School District and the Eugene Education Association teachers union reached a tentative agreement on a new labor contract on Saturday.
Bargaining teams met for several formal sessions in May and June after the previous contract expired.
Before the agreement becomes final it must be ratified by the teachers’ union membership and approved by the Eugene School Board. The next step is for the teachers’ union executive board to vote on whether to approve the terms. If the board recommends, teachers and other represented staff will meet on October 6 to vote on ratification.
The two sides have agreed to keep the terms confidential until after they are presented to teachers and licensed specialists at the ratification meeting.
