The Eugene School Board has approved its final number for this fall’s proposed bond measure: $319 million.
If approved by voters, November’s bond measure would be the largest in Lane County history.
The bond is intended to be used for a rebuild of North Eugene High School, as well as Edison and Camas Ridge Elementary schools. The rest will go toward expansion, renovation and maintenance to other schools in the district.
Chair of the School Board Alicia Hayes says active community feedback helped shape the bond to its current form:
“I think what’s really important is everybody deserves that opportunity, and to have a good healthy school, and that’s what we’re working towards. We have security issues at schools, we have safety issues at schools, and we have equity issues at schools, and this bond will help us address those.”
The financial impact to voters is still being analyzed, previous estimates show it could increase property taxes for homes with median assessed value by close to $135 a year.
