Colleges Honor 2019 Graduates

It’s cap-and-gown season and local colleges are celebrating student success. On Saturday, Oregon State University graduated a record 7,202 students during its 150th commencement ceremony in Corvallis. Saturday also marked Lane Community College’s graduation where more than 1,700 degrees were awarded.

And in Bend, Oregon US Senator Ron Wyden offered remarks to the graduates of central Oregon Community College. Wyden said the academic basics of reading, writing, and ‘rithmatec could use some additions. He says “I believe that in 2019 there are three more “R”s to add to the formula. To the formula for success in academics, employment, and frankly life. They are resolution, readiness, and resiliency.”

University of Oregon’s commencement ceremony is Monday morning at 9:30 at Matthew Knight Arena. Governor Kate Brown will deliver the keynote address to the U of O’s 4,000 graduates.
