The Eugene 4J School Board has a suite of candidates vying for three positions on the May 18th ballot.

At least two of the three seats will be filled by new faces, as Anne Marie Levis and Jim Torrey are not seeking reelection. Laural O’Rourke and Harry Sanger are running for Position 2. Levis endorsed O’Rourke, who works with Lane County Human Services. Sanger works at Lane Transit District and volunteers in the River Road area.

Maya Rabasa is the sole candidate for Torrey’s Position 6. She’s a former teacher who’s on the Board’s budget committee.

Incumbent Judy Newman has two challengers. Newman has 40 years of experience in education and one term on the Board. Tom Di Liberto taught Spanish immersion for 31 years at Monroe Middle School. Bryan Costa coached local high school wrestling for 11 years.

Residents of the Eugene 4J district vote on all positions. The voter registration deadline is April 27th.
