Freezing rain is expected in the early afternoon Thursday, but normal temperatures will begin creeping up this weekend.

The South Willamette Valley should be experiencing warmer weather as early as Friday, with temperatures predicted to reach the mid 40s in the afternoon. Hydrologist Andy Bryant of the National Weather Service says despite some Friday night cold, the weekend should be warmer.

“We do expect some clearing on Friday night so we could drop down around freezing again, so we might have some spots of ice again on Saturday morning, but our daytime temperatures starting Friday and continuing through the weekend will be up into the mid 40s.”

He says the Pacific air mass creeping in from the coast will bring with it the weather typical of the South Willamette Valley. The Oregon Coast will also be feeling temperatures in the mid to upper 40s with a light rain this weekend. Bryant warns people to continue to drive with caution.
