Is there a way for the United States---or Oregon—to get to universal health care? If so, what format is most likely to be successful in providing the best coverage for all? What can be learned from the experience of other countries? Come hear two experts share their experience and knowledge about healthcare. Dr. Marmor and Dr. Okma are visiting many of the City Clubs around Oregon thanks to the Oregon Chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program. City Club of Eugene and the Springfield City Club are proud to present these world-renowned speakers on this important topic.

Speakers:

Theodore H. Marmor, PhD, is emeritus professor of public policy of public policy and management at Yale University. He has written and presented extensively on social security, healthcare policy and healthcare reform since his participation in the creation of Medicare in  1965. In addition to many scholarly publications he is also a national senior doubles squash champion.

Kieke Okma, PhD, is a visiting professor at McGill University in Canada and has spoken around the world on international healthcare policy. She has served as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport in Netherlands and as Advisor to the World Bank on Health policy. She has published in several languages and in 2011 in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine.
